For the past sixteen years, Dwight Darby & Company has been providing accounting and auditing services to nonprofit organizations. Our present client base consists of organizations from various sectors of the nonprofit industry, including educational institutions, safety education councils, churches, industry associations, governmental entities and a mental health service provider. Over this time we have gained valuable experience in meeting the auditing and accounting needs of nonprofit organizations. Most nonprofits receive their funding from a variety of sources. Because of this, the audit must be performed in accordance with standards issued by several institutions. At Dwight Darby & Company, our staff has an in depth understanding of the audit and reporting requirements included in all the standards and is able to determine which guidelines apply based on the organization's particular circumstances. For example, we are efficient in applying Government Auditing Standards that are required by a federal funding source to be followed during an audit and in performing the audit procedures required under OMB Circular A 133 for nonprofits that receive specified amounts of federal awards in a year. In addition, we are knowledgeable about the related reporting requirements of these standards. Other services we have provided to nonprofit organizations include preparation of the annual federal Form 990 and consulting on the related tax issues such as unrelated business income and lobbying expenses. During the past two years, we have assisted clients with the implementation of the new accounting standards that have effected the recording of contribution revenues and the presentation of their financial statements.
